COMPETITION RULES

In Master competitions, FINA rules are applied. Any changes of these rules can be discussed when the team captains get together for a meeting on the arrival day.

All swimmers will have their results converted into points based on their swimming category (M20, M25, M30, etc.) using FINA’s scoring system.

Individual competition

There’s no limit to how many races each swimmer can compete in.

For each race, the three best scores will be awarded to those under 40 (born after 1987) and over 40 (born before and including 1986)

Individual rankings will be calculated based on the 4 best scores and the three best men and women will be awarded.

The swimmers that participate in 5 races will gain a bonus of 100 points that will be added to the team’s score.

Team competition

All team rankings will be calculated considering the following:

  • 40 best scores achieved by the team (each athlete can contribute to their team’s score with a maximum of 5 best scores)
  • 3 best scores achieved by relays
  • Bonuses obtained by each athlete

Mixed relays should be composed of 2 male and female athletes, respectively. Scores that can be given to the relays are shown in the table down below.

Each team can also line up different relays in the same category but only one relay race per each team will be taken into consideration for the distribution of scores.
